Closing and Reporting
2014
It often happens that closing and reporting do not deserve particular attention from the contractor or consultant Project Manager, however, they are important. This chapter analyzes diverse situations that imply risk specifically related to an owner being dissatisfied owing to a deficiency of documentation in quantity and quality handed over, or perhaps due to a lack of quality in finishing concrete work, or through failure to clean the site. The chapter analyzes these aspects, pointing out that closing-out a project is a process as important as the rest of the processes in the project’s life cycle, and examines the need to produce a good Technical Memory that must incorporate a string of i…
On the hazardous situations due to the presence of HV/MV substations in urban areas
2017
The paper focuses on the hazardous situations that can rise in urban areas in case of earth fault inside a High Voltage/Medium Voltage station. Using Wavelet Techniques to Approximate the Subjacent Risk of Death
2018
In Actuarial science, graduation techniques have been used extensively: the large number of scientific papers and technical documentation published evidences this fact (see Ayuso M et al. (Estadistica Actuarial Vida. UBe, Barcelona (2007)), Baeza Sampere and Morillas Jurado (Rev. Anales del Instituto de Actuarios Espanoles 135–164 (2011)), London (Graduation: The Revision of Estimates. ACTEX Publications, Connecticut (1985)), Cairns, et al. (Scand Actuar J 2(3):79–113 (2008)) and the references therein). Graduation techniques are defined by Haberman and Renshaw J Inst Actuar 110:135–156 (1983) as a set of principles and techniques for use that are used on raw data so that a more appropriate…
Current limitations of the Athlete's Biological Passport use in sports.
2011

After that, Italy's anti-doping tribunal considered that there was not enough evidence to prove manipulation of his own blood profile in Pellizotti's case. However, the UCI appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) that sanctioned Pellizotti with a suspension of 2 years. Since its implementation, some problems have emerged. From 2010 to date, a large number of reports …
